JCI Abeokuta Collaborates With Rotary Club Abeokuta On 12th “Annual Police And You” Seminar

JCI Abeokuta collaborates with Rotary Club of Abeokuta Hills to planned and successfully executed the 12th Annual Police and You Seminar.

The program aligned with the JCI Mission/Sustainable Development Goal 11 which tends to promote sustainable cities and communities also advance JCI Vision as this was used to connect both the security personnel as well as the citizens (Community members) together in a robust discussion on the need to develop strategy for a secure environment.

On Saturday 5th of June, 2021 the project was executed with the presence of JCIN Amb. Abiola Olorunnisola – 50th President JCI Nigeria, JCIN Amb. Fatoyinbo Omolade – JCI Abeokuta Local Organization President, Rtn.
Ogunwoolu Adegoke – Rotary Club of Abeokuta Hills Charter President and with the full support of all committee members as well as members of JCI Abeokuta and Rotary Club of Abeokuta Hills.

The seminar was impactful and interactive between the community members and Theme Speakers; ASP Oluwole Folashade – Representative of PPRO The Nigeria Police (Ogun State Command) High Chief Dr. Samson Kunle Popoola (JC) – Chairman Police Community Relations Committee PCRC (Ogun State Command) and Comrade Kunle Sodipo – Southwest PRO PCRC made the best out of the project themed Collaborative Efforts in Security Sustainability; The Role of Individual and Community.

In their individual sessions key security measures which will served as an eyes opener between the security personnel and communities in security sustainability were highlighted.

Among them are;

• Good relationship must exist between the Security Personnel and Community Members for adequate cooperation in the security sustainability.

• Sharing of Information and financial commitment among all neighboring Community Development Associations (CDAs) in their various boundaries.

• As community members, we need to make ourselves available and ready to serve at all the time for the benefit of the community.

• The need to know our neighbors is also part of measures in community policing.

• Constitutional Review of each CDAs to suit the adequate measure in security sustainability.

Through the 2021 edition, the development stage of the Police and You Project focus on; Peace, Prosperity and Sustainability which must served as bedrock between all parties involved in community policing. Also, the Chairman PCRC (Ogun State Command) endorsed PCRC Unit in Oke Ata Community.

Hence, the Primary Elements of Community Policing are Other Government Agencies, Community Members/Group, Nonprofits/Service Providers (Private Businesses and Media).

Representative from Ten (10) different CDAs in Oke Ata turn out in good numbers, also members of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Ogun State, So-Safe Corps and other security personnel were part of the attendees. Awards were presented to the Theme Speakers and Guest speakers, participant Certificates were also given out.
